It’s funny that even though we’re all responsible for our own behavior, parenting is still the most difficult job. We love to blame others and always tend to overreact or be afraid of what someone else may think. Then there are those days when nothing seems to work when we’re just fed up with the whole thing. Of course, most times we’ll resort to therapy, but that doesn’t make it any easier on us.

Parenting, for me, was like growing up, learning about what you want to be, what you want to be – and then working towards getting there. It might seem like a lot of work, but as I’ve mentioned, I love kids and being a mom. I couldn’t imagine going through any other career, let alone parenting one. After all, we are the parents and we have to make sure that they learn to love and respect us as parents.

We know how to raise them right. But what if we were wrong? How would we feel? I was brought up not to be afraid of what anyone else thought. I think that’s what led me to understand that although I was raising my children the right way, it wasn’t the best way.

Of course, we try to make things better but the fact is we don’t always do it in the right way. And we end up making ourselves look bad, not the ones who are raising the kids.

So now I’m back to square one, parenting my own kids, this time, my step-kids. And I’m doing it in the right way, the right way I hope. The same way that I raised my own kids. I think I have an idea of how they’re raising theirs, now, and it doesn’t seem to be much different.

My daughter has been a challenge, but she’s definitely become one of the most important parts of my life. She may be the most important person I’ve ever met. I love my wife and children, but she’s everything. We love each other so much that it really isn’t a question of “do you love me or not.”

Of course, parenting is something that everyone does the right way – right? Wrong. There are some parenting mistakes that are much worse than others and can hurt both the child and the parent.

The first mistake is often done when a parent feels that they need to correct the behavior of their child. A parent may yell at a child for something he or she shouldn’t have done. Of course, the child will get angry, and that’s perfectly understandable. But the parent that yells, usually, is not showing love and it’s almost as if the parent is putting the child down. And the child isn’t learning the proper way to behave in the family.

The second mistake is always feeling that the child is “doing something wrong” when they do something wrong. Sometimes the child does something wrong, but sometimes the parent is doing something wrong, and of course, it’s not as much fun for the child. If you think the child is doing something wrong, ask them about it. Check out the situation to see what it is.

The third mistake is always feeling that the child doesn’t love them. I’m sure there are exceptions, but if you sense that the child doesn’t love you – but you can’t help it – think about what your actions and words are causing the child to believe. For example, is it your “lack of ability,” or the fact that the child “doesn’t like me,” or does it have something to do with the fact that they’re “different?” If it’s because of something you did, apologize and make sure it never happens again. So, what are some other mistakes that some people commit when parenting? They should really look into changing their behaviors, not just their attitudes. Some parents fail to handle situations and end up making their parenting style the culprit. A healthy attitude towards parenting comes from loving your child.
